What is Permaculture?
My first ever garden was in an inflatable kiddie pool on the back porch of my apartment.
And when the Pandemic started, my kids and I started our “chaos garden” where we threw mixed seeds into a garden bed while yelling things like “ENTROPY!” and “LIFE FINDS A WAY!”

So I guess you could say that I’ve always had a tendency toward a more chaotic gardening style.
Which is why it was like a breath of fresh air when I first heard about permaculture.
What is Permaculture to me?
When you go online to look up permaculture, you will see a lot of sophisticated definitions that encompass everything from growing plants to building communities.
To me though, permaculture is simply this:
Permaculture is living and growing plants in harmony with nature.
How do you Grow Plants in a Permaculture Style?
Instead of growing plants in neat, tidy rows…
…permaculture gardens strive to grow plants in a way that mirrors how plants naturally grow in nature.
Many different plants grow side by side and help each other out.
We make use of the resources available from Nature, such as water, sunlight, nutrients, terrain, etc.
And by working together with Nature (instead of trying to force our will), we actually can grow more food with less work.
It’s win, win…win! So many wins!
…And So Much More!
Of course, so much more goes into permaculture than that.
And this website is all about helping learn the basics.
I’m no expert, I’m learning right along with you!
But I’m going to test, trial, and learn and tell you what I discover.
I’ll do the dirty work so you can skip straight to the results!
Hold onto your trowels, this is gonna get WILD!
